EU import rules changes are coming 1st November 2026.
Keeping heavy machinery moving often means sourcing the right replacement parts quickly and reliably. For customers ordering from outside the EU, changes to EU import rules may affect how certain low-value shipments are processed.
New EU customs requirements are changing how some replacement parts orders are handled. Find out what the changes mean and how Plant Parts can help.
At Plant Parts, we understand that navigating customs requirements can be confusing, particularly when you need a part to get machinery back to work. Here, we explain the key changes and what they could mean for your orders.

-
€3 customs duty on ‘low-value’ imports
Since 1 July 2026, the EU has applied a temporary €3 customs duty to qualifying items in consignments valued at €150 or less.
The previous customs duty exemption for these low-value imports has ended.
New EU import rules explained: The duty is calculated according to the different tariff classifications of goods in a consignment, rather than simply charging €3 for every parcel.
The measure is part of wider EU efforts to modernise customs procedures and improve the oversight of imported goods.
You can read more in the European Commission’s guidance on the €3 customs duty.

Additional product information from 1 November 2026
From 1 November 2026, additional product identification information will become mandatory for relevant ‘low-value’ consignments.
These product identifiers are intended to improve traceability and help customs authorities carry out safety and compliance checks.
The EU is also introducing a separate handling fee for small consignments, which is distinct from the €3 customs duty. These developments form part of a wider programme of EU customs reform.
